Lake Natoma is an intermediate lake along the lower American River, located between Folsom Dam and Nimbus Dam in Sacramento County, in the U.S. state of California.

Board Style Recommendation: A touring standup paddle board will provide a very enjoyable experience by cutting through the flat water on Lake Natoma. Folsom Lake plays home to trout, catfish, big and smallmouth bass, perch, sunfish and king salmon. A fishing standup paddle board will be right at home on Lake Natoma.

Boats/Speed Limit: Lots of boating. There is a 5-mph speed limit enforced on the entire lake.

Wildlife:  Black-tailed deer, raccoons, skunks, opossums, gray foxesand coyotes. Birds commonly found in the area include nesting egrets, herons and cormorants, Canada geese, blackbirds, scrub jays, quail, wrens, bushtits and towhees.

Things to know: Birdwatching is a year-round activity. Bird migration occurs in autumn and spring. Lake Natoma and Folsom Lake have up to 80,000 wintering gulls and some waterfowl. Great blue herons, great egrets and double-crested cormorants begin setting up breeding territories in February and stay until August. Their young can be seen March though August.
